Note the report at the bottom of column 8: "Danish Liner Not Sunk By British Mine"
(This was in response to a story in the German papers that claimed SS Canada had been sunk by a British mine. In fact it hit a mine laid by German destroyers. See Hamburger Neueste Zeitung, Nov. 6, 1939.)

Also note the report in column 7: "British Lose Submarine By Explosion"
(This is about HMS Oxley, but there is a sub-headline which is worth noting, "From 2 to 4 U-Boats Sunk Weekly Says Churchill" At this point in the war only 7 U-boats had been sunk in total and none so far in November 1939 at all. In fact only 9 U-boats were sunk in all of 1939.)
