Note the headline: "Italian Submarines Sunk, Camps Fired"
(In the report the claim is made that two Italian submarines were sunk. This was not true, in fact, no Italian submarines had been sunk in the month of July 1940.)
Also note the report in columns 4-5: "Invasion About Face by Nazis"
(After telling the British public for weeks that England would be invaded by the Germans, it is now thought that there would be no invasion. That is not to say there would be no attack, the Battle of Britain/The Blitz was already underway and would last until mid-1941. There would never be a land/sea invasion of England. The reason for this is simple, Hitler never actually planned to invade England. He used this as a massive diversion for two reasons. One, to force England to tie down men and resources to repel an invasion that would never come. And two, he was preparing for the invasion of Russia, which was his real target from the beginning.)
Also note the report at top right: "Alcantara Still at Sea: Navy Hunts Raider"
(Since the commanding officer of Thor (Kapitän zur See Otto Kähler) had sent no radio signal about the battle, the German naval high command was receiving all their information about the battle between HMS Alcantara and Thor from the Admiralty through the press, from reports like this one. This is not speculation, that is what they wrote in their war diary.)

Also note the report in column 2: "The Duke Sailing As Capt. Wood"
(One wonders why the security conscious British censors would allow such a report to be published. Announcing that the Duke and Duchess of Windsor [former King Edward VIII and his wife Wallis Simpson] would sail at 6 p.m. tonight from Lisbon, Portugal on the U.S. ship Excalibur under the name Capt. Wood with the destination being the Bahamas.)
