(The entire crew was rescued, but one man, Stoker Petty Officer Frederick A. Stiles, died of wounds on July 23rd.)

Note the report in column 3: "HMS Salmon Feared Lost"
(HMS Salmon sailed from Rosyth, Scotland with 41 men on board on July 4, 1940, several signals were sent to the boat, but no response was received. The boat was never heard from again. It is thought Salmon hit a mine in an unknown minefield, but the wreck has not been found so there is no confirmation of the cause of the loss.)
Also note the report in column 3: "Trawler Sunk by Bombs"
(The two men who were lost were; Leading Seaman Angus MacLeod, RNR and Seaman Angus Nicholson, RNR.)

(Reportedly one of the richest men in the world claiming poverty. Apparently, the spiritual head of Islam was in France, but when when the Germans invaded the country he fled to Switzerland. Now he is unable to access his millions.)

(Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania "asking" to become part of the Soviet Union. Since the Russians had invaded all three countries, they asked with the barrel of a communist gun firmly implanted in their backs.)
