I have just started searching my family tree and discovered my great uncle was a boy sailor on the HMS Royal Oak. He was one of the many killed on 14th October 1939. His name was Joseph Williams Regimental number P/JX 157723. I know he is buried in Ports mouth Naval cemetery but wanted to know if any photos or other information is available somewhere as I live in Australia. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards,
Jill Gray

Somehow we have acquired a silver tie pin with the following inscription "HMS The Royal Oak 31st May 1916  The Battle of Jutland". I think it belonged to Harold Mills of Walsall. He would have been about 25 in 1916. He was my husband's uncle by marriage. Does anyone have any information on him or on the history of the presentation of the tie pin?

Many thanks,
Jane Evans

The 68th Memorial service will take place in Orkney on October 14th and we hope to have photos and a report on the website (www.hmsroyaloak.co.uk) shortly afterwards.

Best wishes,
Peter Rowlands
