(The unnamed ship was the Norwegian freighter Vigrid, which was sunk by U-371 on June 24, 1941. Of the six nurses mentioned as missing, Phyllis Evans, Dorothea Koehn, Dorothy Morse and Nancy Pott, perished. The writer got some of the details mixed-up. The Mrs. Breckenridge mentioned, was not on the Virgid, but was lost on the Maasdam, along with Maxine C. Loomis.) |
