Note the report in columns 4-5: "Another German U-Boat Ace Lost"
(Kapitänleutnant Joachim Schepke and his U-100 were sunk by H.M. destroyers Vanoc and Walker. Schepke had sunk 37 ships for over 155,000 tons of shipping lost to the Allies making him the eleventh most successful
U-boat commander in World War II. It is interesting to note that two of the top ten most successful U-boat commander of World War II, Günther Prien and Otto Kretschmer, had also been lost recently. Prien was killed and Kretschmer, the most successful U-boat commander in World War II, was captured. The loss of these men has, to this date, not been mentioned in the German press.)
