Daily Event for March 8

The end of an infamous ship came on Mar. 8, 1917 when the U-62 torpedoed and sank the Norwegian collier
Storstad. This ship had collided with and sunk the Empress of Ireland on May 29, 1914 in the St. Lawrence
Seaway killing over 1,000 people. The crew of the Storstad on this trip were lucky as there seems to have been
no casualties.
